PICNet Working Group Updates

Provincial Surveillance Program

The Surveillance Steering Committee met on February 10, 2010. The group finalized a draft of the agreed upon case definitions and minimal data set for the MRSA Surveillance Module. The final draft is currently being reviewed by the committee and the technical development is underway. Thank you to all Health Authority representatives for your ongoing participation and support.

Surgical Site Infection E-Module

PICNet is proud to announce the release of our Surgical Site Infection (SSI) Online Education Module. The SSI E-Module uses real life media demonstrations and interactive activities to teach and examine best practices for the prevention of SSIs. The learning module is now available on our website. If your Health Authority would like to load this course on to your organizational learning system, please contact us.

GI Outbreak Guidelines

The gastrointestinal outbreak guidelines are currently posted for review on our website at www.picnetbc.ca. The GI Outbreak Working Group developed the evidence based guidelines to assist organizations with developing or updating policies or processes that pertain to the prevention, the surveillance for, and the identification and control of gastrointestinal illness outbreaks. Please provide us with your comments using the feedback form by March 31, 2010, as your input is fundamental in developing these guidelines.
