The Provincial Infection Control Network (PICNet) is committed to enhancing healthcare associated infection surveillance and practices in British Columbia. This includes facilitating opportunities for health care professionals to collaborate on new initiatives as well as communicating best practice standards for surveillance.

- Reports: PICNet is currently implementing MRSA surveillance; the first report will be available in Spring 2012.
Hand Hygiene Compliance
PICNet and the Health Authorities are working to monitor hand hygiene compliance across the province. Hand hygiene auditing data are currently being analyzed, with quarterly reporting to follow. In addition, PICNet is participating in the Provincial Hand Hygiene Program.

VRE (Vancomycin-Resistant Enterococci )
PICNet is working with the Health Authorities to establish provincial surveillance system for VRE infections in BC acute care facilities. Data collection is scheduled to begin in Fiscal Year 2012/13.
